FILINVEST MIMOSA – Clark-Building Signage Installation

MG Global Ads completed multiple signage installation projects in the Philippines, including building signage, LED signage, directional wayfinding systems, and corporate branding installations across Metro Manila.

Building Signage Installation: Method Statement & Crew Highlights

For professionals interested in building signage installation in the Philippines, this is a must-read. Audience: Architects • Developers • Project Managers • Engineers
Scope: Large-format channel-letter façade signage with LED illumination, mounted on a parapet using a fabricated suspended clamp system.

1) Pre-Construction & Engineering

  1. Kickoff & Constraints
    • Obtain elevations, wind-load category, parapet details, power source location, access limits.
    • Confirm work windows to avoid tenant disruption.
  2. Structural & Access Design
    • Design fabricated suspended clamp + GI brace members to avoid roof penetrations.
    • Factor of Safety ≥ 4:1 for all suspended members; verify parapet load path.
  3. HSE Documentation
    • JSA/TRA, Method of Statement, Fall-Protection Plan, Hot-work & LOTO where required.
    • Weather thresholds: cease work ≥30 km/h sustained wind or lightning within 10 km.
  4. Mock-ups & FAT
    • Channel-letter sample (aluminum returns, acrylic faces, LED pitch, PSU spec).
    • Illumination uniformity check (cd/m²) and color temp match.

2) Fabrication & QA

  • Letters: Aluminum returns, powder-coated; 4.5–6 mm acrylic faces with trim cap.
  • LED: 12/24V modules, IP67; drivers sized @80% load with surge protection.
  • Frames: Hot-dip galvanized steel/aluminum rails; slotted for tolerance.
  • QC: Dimensional check, fastener torque specs, cable labeling, 8-hour burn-in.

3) Site Mobilization

  • Crew: Supervisor, rigger, lead fabricator, electricians, installers (IRATA/L3 oversight if rope access), banksman.
  • Access: Suspended staging on parapet clamp system (no roof penetration), lifelines, full-body harnesses with double lanyards & tool lanyards.
  • Permits: Work-at-height clearance, hot-work (if welding on brackets), electrical.

4) Survey, Layout & Dry-Fit

  1. Control Line: Laser establish baseline + datum across elevation; tolerance ±3 mm.
  2. Template: Paper/skin templates aligned; penetration marks for bracketry.
  3. Dry-Fit: Rails pre-assembled & tagged; electrical routes pre-planned to PSU location.

5) Hoisting & Bracket Installation

  • Rigging: Certified slings/shackles; tag lines for wind control; exclusion zone below.
  • Parapet Clamps: Set at spacing per calc; swivel clamps + GI braces; torque & witness-mark.
  • Rails: Level, plumb, and expansion gaps observed.

6) Letter Mounting & Electrical

  1. Mount Letters: Slot/bolt to rails; verify stroke continuity & kerning alignment.
  2. Wiring: Home-run low-voltage to PSUs; drip loops; UV-resistant conduit; separation from mains.
  3. Sealing: Silicone perimeter where required; gaskets on penetrations.

7) Testing, Commissioning & Night Aim

  • Power-On Tests: Polarity, voltage drop (<5%), thermal check on drivers.
  • Uniformity: Night-time inspection; dim hotspots; tweak module spacing if needed.
  • Sign-Off: Punch list closeout, as-built markups, O&M handover.

Safety & Quality Controls

  • Full PPE: harness, lanyards, helmets with chin strap, high-vis, gloves, eye protection.
  • Lifelines: Independent from work line; anchor certification on record.
  • Tool control: Tether all hand tools; toe-boards on platforms.
  • Electrical: LOTO on supply; IP67 terminations; surge protection.
  • Documentation: Daily toolbox talks, inspection logs, torque sheets, NCR/CAR workflow.

Equipment & Materials

  • Suspended staging + fabricated parapet clamp system
  • Laser levels, TIC/insulation meter, torque wrenches
  • LED modules & PSUs (IP67), junction boxes, UV conduit
  • Galv. rails & stainless fasteners (A2/A4)

Programme

  • Engineering / approvals: 1–2 weeks
  • Fabrication & QA: 1–2 weeks
  • Mobilization & install: 3–7 days (weather-dependent)
  • Testing & turnover: 1 day

What This Project Proves

  • Non-penetrative mounting that respects envelope warranties.
  • High-elevation work done safely with disciplined rigging.
  • Even illumination and clean kerning at architectural scale.
  • World-class execution by M&G Global Ads installers—reliable, fast, audit-ready.

For Specifiers

  • Mounting: Parapet-clamped suspended frame, no roof penetrations.
  • Returns: Powder-coated aluminum; faces: acrylic; illumination: LED, IP67.
  • Power: 230V supply to remote PSUs; low-voltage distribution in UV conduit.
  • Warranty: 1-year workmanship; LED/PSU per manufacturer.
  • Deliverables: Calculations, shop drawings, as-builts, O&M.
